The Board of Directors and membership of the International Uechi-ryu Karate Federation were saddened by the news that Charlie Earle had died. He was an original in North American Uechi-ryu, and will be sorely missed. For those of us who started in the 1960’s, Charlie is remembered as an imposing and inspiring Uechi practitioner and teacher, who represented what we might become, if we studied long and very hard. His school in Providence, RI was known as one with the longest history in a single location. Charlie started many of our most respected American Uechika on their road to successful study. His grace, smiling face and serious accomplishments in Uechi-ryu karate will not be forgotten. The IUKF sends its condolences, and best wishes, to the Earle family. Paul Haydu, MD Chairman, IUKF Board of Directors
