 The Hut group is going strong. We have developed a new kumite for 2008, called the “push/grab kumite”, meaning the all the attacks are pushes or grabs and all the defenses are jujitsu/judo/aikido-like adaptations of Uechi-ryu moves. We have also learned the new kata from Okinawa, ‘Ryuko’, and are practicing it as a group. Have you seen it yet? Lotta strong, simple moves, not unlike your ‘Yankee Kata’ but much longer.we are also doing the Long Sanchin, the Sanseiryu Bonkai … in case people want to come by and see or learn them.
Everyone is healthy and well.

By the way, I forgot to add, that picture that Henry Thom sent in was from a picnic at Plum Island, Newburyport. I can't recognize anyone in the picture, but I was there, as was Rich Baptista, Bruce Murphy and some of the other teens from that time period.

How are you? Just came home from Felipe's dojo working with the group that will be testing this summer camp. They are coming along fine.
Your latest home page shows some old photos and asked for more. Attached is an old one from my file. It was taken in June 1968 during one of your beach workouts. I wonder if anyone recognize those guys and if anyone remembers that workout.

 Hi George.
Do not know of you have this picture or not. I have attached a picture of an old and dear departed friend (Chuck Kopp). I think Chuck was the most enthusiastic and motivated student of yours that I ever knew and trained with at the old dojo. In the back ground of the picture, you will see Dick Pratt and Reggie Brothers. I still see and talk to Dick Pratt and Kathy Tobin once or twice a year.

Re cognize anyone???
During one of my infrequent attempts to organize my files, photos, articles and other archive items, I came across quite a few negatives of photos taken at the famous Cambridge Street Dojo.
When I have time, I'll be adding more of these scans to the Gallery. Someday I'll have to have these negatives professionally processed. . .
Many of today's senior instructors trained at this dojo during the late 70s and 80s.
Although many of these students no longer practice, many are still in contact with me, either on the internet or in private correspondence. Unfortunately, many of these early pioneers of Uechi-ryu are no longer with us, victims of accidents, disease or simply old-age.
If you trained with me during this "golden" age of Uechi-ryu (1958 - 1985), why not drop me a line with a photograph (hopefully one of you taken during these early years and a current one) that I can publish here. Tell us what you are doing and if you are still working out.
