Everyone knows that personal instruction from a qualified instructor, is the best way to learn and advance in any physical activity. The martial arts are no difference.
I highly recommend that anyone interested in learning the martial arts begin by checking out the many talented instructors listed in our "Dojo/Instructor" directory.
If you are fortunate enough to live in New England, be sure to supplement your regular training with an occasional visit to the Newton "Hut" program on Saturdays or Van Canna's excellent Brandeis program on Wednesdays. Both these programs are geared to the exploration of elements of the martial arts that you will surely find helpful in your regular training.
The Summer and Winter Festivals are also opportunities for you to be introduced to different facets of whatever martial art you may be studying. You won't become an "expert" by taking a couple of hours seminar, but you may discover one or two technique applications that were hidden, but very much a part of your own studies. Never been to one? Why not join us at this year's WinterFest and discover new friends, new methods and applications.
