Technical question on Konshiwa

Post by natalie lane »

What is the standard foot position on the first movement of Konshiwa?

I have seen this 2 ways, one is from neutral stance, stepping out with the right foot, then pivoting into a left sanchin. The way I was originally taught, it was pivoting on the left foot from neutral immediately into a left sanchin. It's a small difference, but I am curious to know which is the most common.

Thanks Sensei, I saw that in your red book but wasn't sure that it was still done the same way. I hope to see you again at one camp or another. :D

There is a third way I'm familiar with - which is stepping forward (slightly off angle) into a left sanchin.
