Martial Arts Auction Site
"How it works!"

This Auction Site came about because of repeated requests for hard to find items. I'd either put them in touch with someone else, or posted their request on the site. There are problems involved with purchasing or selling a product to someone you don't know:

1. Will you receive the item or the money.
2. Will the item be what you expected or what was represented by the seller.

Acting as an objective and hopefully trusted intermediary, I have established a formula whereby everyone should be satisfied:

1. All sales offers will be "dated" according to the date and time received by me. (I'll keep a record) All Bids are in U.S. Dollars!
Their are two methods the seller may elect to sell an item:
    a. Meet a price. In this case, the first person offering to buy an item will have one week to complete the sale.
    b. Best bid over a minimum price. In this case, I will post all bids as received.  I will also post a closing date for bidding. The highest bid over the minimum price will have purchased the item. At the close of the auction, if the item has not received the minimum bid, the seller will have the option to extend the auction or sell the item to the highest bidder.
3. The seller may request a "closing" date, at which time an item will taken off list.
4. The buyer must pay "Emporium" for item. (All payments must be in US funds or credit card)
5. When funds are received, the "Emporium" will notify seller to ship item to buyer. (All items must be sent "insured" for full value and must be "signed" for at buyer's location.
6. When buyer has received item and is satisfied it is "as represented", buyer notifies "Emporium" by email, to "release" funds to seller.
7. Auction Site sends full amount, less the Final Value Fee, to the seller:

Then here's how you calculate the seller's Final Value Fee :

  1. Take the first $500 of your final value, and calculate 10% of that. If your item sold for $500 or less, this is your Final Value Fee.
  2. If your final value was more than $500, take the additional amount, from $500.01 to $1,000, and calculate 5% of that.
  3. If your final value was more than $1,000, take that additional amount and calculate 2.5% of the remaining amount.
  4. Add these amounts together and you have your Final Value Fee! (U.S. Funds)

8. Seller pays for all shipping/handling/insurance costs involved in getting item to buyer.
9. Buyer pays for all shipping/handling/insurance costs involved in "returning" item to seller, if not satisfied with item.

[I don't wish to make this too complicated, but assume there may be situations where the seller's representations might be interpreted differently from the buyer's impression of the item. And of course, there will be buyers who might have an unusually high expectation of everything they buy! So, in ALL cases, the seller pays to get item to buyer and the buyer pays all costs to return item to seller if unhappy with item. If there is any damage due to shipping/handling, the person receiving damaged item, collects full value of item from the shipping agent. Both parties must agree to this.]

10. In event of returns by buyer: "Emporium" will hold funds until seller receives item back and notifies Auction Site of item returned. At this time, the full amount will be returned to buyer. Auction site will not be involved in any disagreement among buyer and seller over who is responsible for damage to item at any stage in the transaction although will help arbitrate any differences.

11. By participating in this auction, you agree to the above terms.
12. Auction Site policies are subject to change. (Mario, Al or Chris may want to change the language some) Please refer to this page for any updates.
